The Vikings could make a big splash in their effort to find a pass-rushing defensive end.
Kansas City Pro Bowl defensive end Jared Allen, who has been designed the Chiefs' franchise player, reportedly has been in talks with the Vikings and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The Fox Sports website reported Allen will be in Minnesota this weekend to meet with the Vikings. Getting Allen would be costly on two fronts. The Chiefs undoubtedly will be seeking plenty in return—probably first-day draft picks—and Allen will want an assurance of a multiyear deal before he agrees to anything. The Chiefs placed the franchise tag on Allen in February, meaning he would stand to make almost $9 million in 2008 (the average of the five highest-paid defensive ends in the NFL). ...
