At this point in the year, it's hard to believe anything coming out of an NFL executive, coach or scout's mouth. It doesn't benefit them to be honest with the draft on the horizon.
Successful drafters are those who have mastered the art of deception, and know how to manipulate information. So either Dolphins new general manager Jeff Ireland's off to a good start, or he needs a bit more coaching from his mentor, Bill Parcells, based on what took place at Thursday's pre-draft press conference.
Ireland either had a Freudian slip, or set up one heck of a smoke screen.
When talking about the team's options with the draft's No. 1 pick, Ireland initially said the Dolphins planned to select a "defensive" player.
"I'm going after the player that best fits us.
