The Chiefs might make waves before the 2008 draft begins.
Franchised defensive end Jared Allen, as first reported by FOX Sports, has attracted serious interest from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Minnesota Vikings. Allen led the NFL in sacks last season with 15.5 despite missing time serving a suspension. Allen would be considered a major upgrade for either pass-rush needy suitor.
The Vikings, FOX reported, will entertain Allen over the weekend with a tentative meeting set with the Buccaneers next week.
Chiefs general manager Carl Peterson issued a statement confirming ongoing talks with multiple teams. Peterson and the Chiefs had contract talks with Allen, but no agreement on a contract extension could be reached prior to or during the 2008 season. Allen,...
