The Browns released Gary Baxter on Saturday, ending the safety's hopes of making a comeback from knee surgery this season. The Browns released Baxter four days after he underwent arthroscopic knee surgery to remove loose cartilage. Baxter tore both patellar tendons on the same play in a 2006 game against Denver.
