Chad Johnson's offseason of discontent has found a new target, and it's the player most closely linked to the success Johnson has enjoyed as a five-time Pro Bowl player.
Quarterback Carson Palmer, the Bengals starter the past four seasons, innocently enough stepped into the Johnson fray on Wednesday when Palmer said Johnson had told him in a phone call that he would report for the team's mandatory mid-June minicamp.
Johnson saw those comments over the noon hour Wednesday and called ESPN's John Clayton to refute them and to, somewhat politely, tell Palmer to stay out of Johnson's business. Johnson has refused to talk to Cincinnati-based media since October.
Johnson, Palmer said, told him that "he'll be there when he has to," Palmer said.
